Jordan is better. Kobe will never be able to play defense like Jordan did. Both offensive games are brilliant, but Jordan gets the nod as he was much more successful, and he shot at a higher %. I won't change my opinion on that unless Kobe can win a few more championships in a dominating, dramatic fashion like Jordan always did with his teams.

Defensive standards of today cannot be compared to the 80's and 90's where players could physically hold their opponents hip (known as hip-checking). This, along with tougher players of that era, made the game much more physical. My point is that Jordan even played in the tougher era.

I can't see anywhere where I can give Kobe Bryant the nod over Jordan. OK, maybe one thing: Kobe likes to dribble the ball and break his man down one-on-one. Jordan played within the system. I don't know if that is a good thing or bad thing though. But Kobes era is highlighted with more one on one basketball. The Iversons', Kobes', Marburys and others made it normal to break down a man and penetrate the lane. Kobe is exceptional at this. Beating a team with an extra pass was not seen as much. Jordan was not the ball hog Kobe was, and to a lesser extent, is (he has improved).

Leadership will always be defined by Jordan, that killer instinct which always transformed into winning.

Kobe is not the leader like Jordan, but he has a killer instinct. Unfortunately, I feel that he see's the offensive side of basketball as game within the game. His killer instinct only lies there, on offense in my opinion.

To compare the two is not even worth it. I don't understand these questions where people say Kobe is better; I can only assume they are too young, or too bitter (I heard Mark Jackson saying that Kobe was better once).

Imagine if Michael Jordan had Shaquille O' Neal in his prime like Kobe Bryant did.... Instead of Luc Longley, Bill Wennington, Will Purdue, Bill Cartwright, Cori Blount, Bison Dele etc etc.... Nothing wrong with those guys by the way, they are just not a true dominating center like Shaq.
